Symega Ingredients is engaged in crafting sensory experiences for consumers worldwide. We develop delectable flavours, natural colours, specialty seasonings and exquisite culinary ingredients for the global food and beverage industry.

Symega Ingredients was born out of our reflection that food companies across the world needed a trustworthy yet invisible partner for their product development. With food technologists, flavourists and sensory experts as part of a cross functional team, our personnel engage with our customers in varied industries ranging from sweet goods like dairy and confectionery to savoury ones like noodles and snacks.

Our History

1972
The Roots

Synthite Industries was founded in a sleepy village near the port town of Kochi, in the Indian state of Kerala. Our founder, Mr. C.V. Jacob, had a distinctive vision to add value to the abundantly available local spices. He partnered with a leading food research institute in India on the development of an innovative technology to extract spice oils and oleoresins.
2006
Our Inception
2006 Our Inception

Joint ventures were entered into with Omega Technologies, Austria, to set up Symega Savoury Technology, and with Aromco Flavours, UK, to form Aromco Flavours India.Started operations at the newly set up ‘Synthite Taste Park’, a dedicated food-tech park in Kerala, for value-added spice derivatives and food ingredients. The two companies offered sweet and savoury flavours, seasonings, and spice blends for the Indian food and beverage manufacturing industry.

2014 Winds of Change

The joint-venture agreements came to an end and both divisions became fully-owned subsidiaries of Synthite Industries. Soon after, Aromco Flavours India was rechristened Symega Flavours India. Food solutions, with a focus on innovation and an in-depth understanding of market trends, were created. Backed by technical expertise and a diligent team of food technologists, that expanded the horizons of sensory experiences, redefined tastes and transformed foods

With its brand identity well-established in the seasonings and spice blends markets in the Indian sub-continent, Symega further branched into culinary products like ketchup, mayonnaise, and other sauces. The divisions also started exporting into the Middle east, Africa, and South East Asian markets.

Staying on a trajectory of continuous growth, Symega Savoury Technology became India’s largest seasoning house, producing almost 8 million kilograms of blended formulations annually. Symega Flavours in the meanwhile, expanded its portfolio to include natural food colours, in response to the growing consumer demand for all-natural ingredients in their foods.

Symega Flavours Limited and Symega Savoury Technology Limited merge to form a world-scale multi-sensory ingredient powerhouse, Symega Food Ingredients Limited, offering flavour, colour, and taste solutions to diverse food and beverage segments across the world. Today, we offer a vast and diverse range of products serving over 800 customers, in nearly 50 product categories, across 45 countries.

Symega Food Ingredients inaugurated its Technology Centre in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. The facility, with its ultra-modern amenities for creation, application and sensory evaluation of innovative food and beverage concepts is a testament to Symega’s unwavering focus on research and development, customer centricity, and commitment to developing solutions that delight the consumers.

Growing in scale and scope
Symega Ingredients Pvt Ltd 2021
Symega expands its Culinary Products capacity by over 3 times to 9000 MTPA to cater to the fast growing convenience foods market in India. The same year, we inaugurated Symega Protein Innovation Centre (SPIC), a purpose-built R&D facility to further strengthen Symega’s interests in the plant-based meat and dairy segments.

To cater to the burgeoning demand for culinary aids in professional kitchens, Symega launches CUISINARY, a range of seasonings, sauces, marinades and other ingredients, designed by chefs, for chefs. It also inaugurates a pilot-scale facility for plant-based meat with capabilities to manufacture vegan nuggets, burgers, sausages, and other mock meat products.
